Obituary for Floyd Strickland Jr.

On August 20th, 2016, Floyd Strickland finished his course. He was born June 9th, 1953 to the late Eddie and Estella Strickland in Fordyce, Arkansas. Floyd graduated from Thornton High School in 1971. From there, he went on to become a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard then relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada and continued many years of service in the Nevada Army Reserves.

In addition to serving in the Guard and Reserves, Floyd held various jobs in construction and the hotel and casino industry. He retired in 2010 and returned to work part-time at Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino.

Floyd is survived by spouse: Larreath Strickland of Nevada, one daughter: Tyamona Penister of Texas; two sons: Floyd Lamont Strickland of Pennsylvania, Rickey JaJuane Key of Nevada and two grandchildren: Floyd Lamont Strickland, Jr. of Nevada and Shakira Key of Nevada.

Floyd also leaves behind father-in-law: Pink Clemons of Nevada; five brothers-in-law: Samuel Cooper of Nevada, Cloyce Clary of Arizona, Pink Clemons, Jr. of Nevada, Willie Clemons of Nevada, and Edward Clemons of Nevada; three sisters-in-law: Maureen Tyler of Nevada, Tressie Mathews of Nevada, Dareath Clemons of Nevada and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his 5 siblings: Eddie Mae Strickland, Willie Tyler (Maureen), Elree Mathews (Tressie), Velma Clary (Cloyce) and Stella Louise Nelson-Cooper (Samuel).
